What changes between services?
Uber and Bolt: choose a ride type in the app, review the offer before confirming and follow the in-app pickup directions.
Freenow by Lyft: a European app for taxis and other available ride options. Check the vehicle type, fare and meeting point in the Freenow app.
Taxi: confirm the fare or tariff and check the vehicle’s licensing details. KRK has its own official Krakow Airport Taxi service with distance-based zone fares.
How to recognise a licensed Krakow taxi
Krakow City Hall says a local taxi should show a side number and the city coat of arms on its doors, a maximum fare sticker on the rear right door window and a visible driver ID with a photograph, licence number and validity date. Keep your meter receipt or the electronic trip summary from an app ride. Do not agree to a separate cash price that replaces the meter or the fare shown in the app.
Does the Lyft app work in Krakow?
Lyft acquired Freenow in 2025. The European passenger brand is Freenow by Lyft; Freenow was not simply renamed Lyft. On 30 September 2026, Lyft announced that its app was opening to North American travellers first in Barcelona and Hamburg, with Warsaw planned for later in October. That announcement did not confirm Krakow. In Krakow, download and check the Freenow by Lyft app rather than assuming the North American Lyft app can book your ride.
